running on empty
I once heard that summers were for relaxing, swimming in pools, and basically taking some time to get some good ol' R&R. It paints a nice picture, but right now the words "rest" and "relaxation" aren't exactly in my vocabulary. I am so not used to doing things 20 hours of the day like i used to. Recently, it looks as though i'm returning to my full schedule. Now that i look back, i wish i knew what my secret was. It amazes me that i used to go to school for the better part of the day, then fit in meetings, work, studying, errands, and still have time to chill and throw parties while i slept only 4 hours max a night (if i even slept). Then i'd get up and do everything all over again with the energy of a marathon runner. Sometimes i would think i had some adrenaline overproduction abnormality, but i loved it. I lived to cross out another item in my "to do" list. Oy vey, these days i feel like "jeez, i feel so tired i barely even have any energy to write a to-do list!". I guess i'm doing pretty much the same things, but it's just with this incredible lack of vivaciousness. I don't know, perhaps my mind and body are simply trying to catch up with the rest it lost in my days passed. Or maybe i just grew up from having that type-A, "gotta keep myself busy" persona. Either way, i need to be rejuvenated. maybe i should do yoga or something? i don't know how much good contorting myself into the scorpion or the ostrich will do me, but it never hurts to find out, yah?
Actually right now i'm gonna take a hot shower, then turn up the jazz and light some aromatherapy candles. This has always been my favorite post-stressful day activity. Hopefully this will set my mind at ease. Tomorrow, i'll be ready for the new day with a clear head and renewed energy. i'm determined to have a goodnight's sleep and take on the world from this day forth! dream sweet, luvs! =) *salutes*
