o/` so long, fare-well, i bid UM adieu o/`
(for reference, enough has been said about the last post. if you want to see anymore on that topic, read the comments pertaining to it. moving on...)
A week and a half ago, i was devastated. At this second, I am still devastated. On that fateful night, i ran to the mailbox as i had done so every night the past week. My heart sunk as i held in my hands a small envelope adressed to me from the University of Miami. I felt a lump in my throat as i ripped open the envelope, only to find a letter informing me that i was put on the wait list. A wait list of 250 students, for a school that had nearly 16,000 freshman applicants with a mere 1900 openings.
At the moment i felt my dreams were taken away from me. I was absolutely in love with that school. Being on the wait list, such a small percentage of those who actually applied, i was so near to what i wanted...yet at the same time i already felt that my opportunity was taken away. There is no other way to describe how i felt other than that greusome word: devastated. Honestly, i had no idea i would feel this way. I mean, i'm a realist. I have the ability to face facts. If that was the decision. fine. But nooooooo. As soon as i saw the words "wait listed", man, i sobbed my eyes out. For 3 hours straight. It just plain sucks to look forward to something, fall in love, then have that taken from the palm of your hand. It's almost comparable to unrequited love. You always want what you cant have.
My tears flowed not only because i was sad over not being able to attend the school i wanted to, which of course, is probably the most important decision of my life at this time. No, they flowed on as an expression of my anger. I hate gateway high school. Wait, i'm going to rephrase that as to avoid generalizing. I hate the incompetency of lazy and stupid guidance workers who cant do their job right and blame an honest student for their mistake. UGH! My damn school "forgot" to send my transcript at the time they were supposed to...and i find out 2 months later that the whole time, my transcript, probably the most important part to any application other than the actual application itself, was lying in some folder in the guidance office. BASTARDS! It's their fault. It's their fuckin fault. IT'S THOSE BASTARDS FUCKIN FAULT!
Ok, so i dont have the best credentials. So what. At least i know i have DAMN GOOD credentials. Good enough to get me in that school. This was a fluke. A horrible mistake. I called UM to find out what exactly happened, just for my benefit as suggested by Gracie, who rooted for me to go ever since we planned being there together last year.(she's been there for a year now) Apparently i was borederline. The officer said that with my transcript being so late, that put me up against all the apps they already got, when i could have been reviewed 2 months earlier when i was supposed to be. And that was it. *sob* Even UF accepted me, dammit. Why can't you guys just let lil' me in? *pouts*
Well, from this point on what else can i do but place all my energy into making UCF the best experience for me. *sigh* Au revoir, Miami, til we meet again.
[[lol, this seemed a little dramatic. Bah. who cares. i loved that school. i really did. sue me.]]
